A spectacular airshow opened Cozumel's new "Captain Eduardo Toledo" aerodrome, at the end of last month.

It's hoped the Cozumel aerodrome will help diversify local tourism by attracting pilots of the 14 to 15 thousand private aircraft in the U.S.A.

The Governor of Quintana Roo, Felix Gonzalez, arrived to the opening event in a plane piloted by Captain Eduardo Toledo himself, along with Juan Carlos Hernández, Andres Ruiz Morcillo and Roman Quian, mayors of Cozumel, Chetumal and Playa del Carmen.

The free airshow opening event wooed and wowed thousands of locals.

They stared up into the skies to see aerobatics, parachute jumps, ultra lights, hot air balloons and model aircraft. On the ground there were also motorcycle displays and boxing.
