Cozumel Bird Festival Takes Off

 

The 2011 Annual Bird Festival is underway in Cozumel, organized by the island's Marine Park.

Forming a part of the World Bird Festival, the event aims to educate and raise awareness about the importance of the island's birds.

Two New Cozumel Megastores

Retail chain, Walmart Mexico and Central America, confirmed, yesterday, that they are building two new stores on the island, with plans to open in late June this year.

The Sam’s Club membership warehouse and Bodega Aurrera discount superstore are being constructed next to each other, in a new development area just over a mile inland from downtown Cozumel.

Cozumel Punch Drunk On Boxing

Cozumel is punch drunk with excitement for tomorrow's world title fight between Mexican boxer, Humberto "Zorrita" Soto, and his Japanese challenger, Motoki Sasaki.

The contest will see Soto defend his WBC World Lightweight belt in the park in front of the island's city hall.

Cozumel Motocross Mayhem

Guest report on the regional motocross championship in Cozumel, last week, by Master A Class race winner and event co-organizer, Chris Wright.

It had been delayed 2 weeks, but finally it was race day.

Tropical rains had turned the track into a big pond.

To get it ready to race, I'd had to do a search and recovery snorkel for a pump's suction hose.

Cozumel Prepares For Rodeos, Music, Feasts And More

 

It's almost time for the excitement of rodeos, music, feasts and more mayhem, as Cozumel prepares again for the annual El Cedral Festival.

This year's historical celebration will start in just a couple of weeks, running from Thursday, April 28 to Monday, May 3, 2011.
