The first in a new series of "Did You Know?" articles about Cozumel. Accused presidential assassins are not known for visiting the idyllic shores of Cozumel, but secret FBI dossiers made public in 1992 have evidence that Lee Harvey Oswald was on the island in 1962 and 1963. |
In one report, an informant for the FBI says the alleged killer of U.S. President John F. Kennedy stayed at the Hotel Playa on the seafront downtown which, today, is the Cozumel Island Museum.
The released spy documents suggest Oswald was arranging for communist propaganda to be smuggled from Cuba into the USA, via Mexico.
