Cozumel cruise

Mega cruise ship the Symphony of the Seas, with a capacity for 6,680 passengers and 2,200 crew, docked in Cozumel for the first time, on Sunday.

Officially the world's largest passenger ship (measured by the amount it can carry, 228,081 gross tons if you're counting) this Royal Caribbean mega-ship had its maiden voyage on April 7, 2018 and had been sailing round Europe until the beginning of this month, when it transferred to the Caribbean.

Cozumel has been preparing for it's arrival for months and was proud to be its first Caribbean port of call outside the U.S. The ship will be back again in just 10 days and the island looks forward to receiving a lot more visits from her during the winter Caribbean cruising season.

The Symphony is the fourth ship to have been built in Royal Caribbean's "Oasis class", her other three slightly smaller sisters being the Oasis, Allure and Harmony of the Seas.

She features new dining concepts and family activities, an awe-inspiring theater, aerial, ice and water entertainment, robot bartenders and the tallest slide at sea, all set in the unique seven-neighborhood concept of the award-winning Oasis-class ships.

But just when you think the Symphony is quite big enough, you might want to think again. According to Royal Caribbean's CEO, Michael Bayley, an as-yet-unnamed fifth Oasis-class ship will be coming in 2021, and it'll be even bigger!
