The broadcaster highlighted the dire situation in Cozumel due to its dependence on the tourism economy, which has been closed for more than 2½ months already.

The special report included interviews with business owners, workers and the island's mayor, explaining that more than 200 restaurants and hundreds of other businesses have been closed since March 15 and the economy has shut down.

"Streets, commercial centers, hotels and attractions are desolate and the people have no money", said the reporter.
