Hurricane Wilma: North Of Town


Hotels were scoured on the ocean side by waves of a power never seen before in Cozumel The road flooded to a depth of over a metre in places making it difficult to get to the north. The road is passable now and the tidy up well under way.

Hurricane Wilma: South Of Town


Strong waves struck the hotel and beach strip to the south of Cozumel. Sand shifted around the beaches and exposed buildings sustained damage.

Beaches and hotels are working now to recover sand and make repairs. Many will be ready for the first cruise ship on 14 November and for tourists to visit again in the December high season.

Hurricane Wilma: Seafront Beaten Hard


The west side of Cozumel was beaten hard during Wilma. These photos of the part between the Palacio Municipal (City Hall) and Punta Langosta (downtown cruise terminal) are testimony to this.

Hurricane Wilma: Marinas


The Caleta and Puerto Abrigo marinas and the dry dock all felt Wilma's wrath, resulting in many boats being damaged, destroyed or even sunk. Our hearts go out to those who lost their boats, especially those who use them to make a living.
