06 July 07: Despite a tripling in population since 1980, Ecoz, the new agency responsible for garbage and recycling in Cozumel, has streamlined the collection and disposal of waste on the island, said its Director, Fernando Espinoza Cisneros. Reported by Por Esto!.

14 June 2007: Ancient remains have been uncovered in the small town of El Cedral in Cozumel. Construction workers found human remains that are thought to be Mayan as well as clay pots and seashells. Reported by Noticaribe/Enfoque Radio.
