Cozumel is extra festive this year, with big Christmas trees downtown, lights and decorations outside City Hall, and nativity scenes and seasonal fairs.

In true Mexican yuletide spirit, islanders are celebrating with 9 nights of songs, called Las Posadas, while children recite their own carols and carry decorated branches, in a similar custom known as cantando la rama.
